Kory and I met through mutual friends and starting hanging out in August/September 2009. Kory was wearing my favorite cologne and of course he got a big head when I told him he smelled good when we were walking to Rib Fest with a group of people. A few weeks later, Kory came over to my house with Amy Jesko and Derek Kerner to watch movies. We texted back and forth for a few weeks. I left for California for a volleyball trip and when I got back, we went on our first date: dinner at Outback Steakhouse followed by Halloween at the movie theater. I had just started physical therapy school and Kory was working at the refinery, so we were both extremely busy. However we found a way to make things work. Last Easter (Good Friday), Kory proposed as we were taking our dog, Milo, for a walk. We were walking through the Glandorf park and we stopped at a gazebo that had been built in memory of Kory's dad. Kory was telling me about the gazebo and then pointed out a plastic easter egg beside one of the bushes. I shrugged it off, thinking they were going to have an easter egg hunt. Kory told me to pick it up and see if it had any money in it. When I picked it up, I shook it and heard something rattle. I opened it up and found a dime and a piece of paper with "will you marry me" on it. When I turned around, Kory was down on one knee with the ring in his hand. I never saw it coming! |
