We have been together about 4 1/2 years. He's heavy metal, and I'm top 40, but I guess opposites attract! We got engaged just before I graduated from MTSU in December 2004. He couldn't even wait one day after he bought the ring to propose! Isn't that sweet! We are so excited about our upcoming wedding and so happy that we will be able to share that experience with the people we love most. We are spending our Honeymoon in the Dominican Republic at Secrets Excellence Punta Cana, and I'm sure that we will need a nice relaxing vacation when it's all said and done! The last 4 1/2 years have gone by so fast, and we are so excited to see what the rest of our lives together will bring. We love you all and look forward to seeing you for our special day!

Our wedding will be held at the Laurel Theater in Knoxville, TN. The ceremony will start at 6pm & guests should try to arrive by 5:45 to be seated when the ceremony begins. The wedding party will be dressed formally, & you are certainly welcome to dress as formally as you choose, but we want everyone to be comfortable. The most important thing to us is that you come & have a wonderful time!
To get to the Laurel Theater take I-40 E to the 17th St exit. Turn right on to 17th st from the exit ramp. Go straight until you come to Laurel Avenue and turn left. If you come to Cumberland Avenue, you have gone too far. Once on Laurel avenue go one block to the intersection of 16th st. The theater will be on the right across 16th & parking is available in the campus parking lot on the corner.

The reception will also be held at the Laurel Theater following the ceremony. We will serve heavy hors d'oeuvres, obviously the wedding cake as well as other assorted desserts. We will be serving beer, wine, and punch while we finish up pictures and actual reception will begin shortly after. Please let us know if you have any special diet needs. Don't worry Mary Haun, there will be healthy food too, but only a little! There will be lots of great music and dancing, so wear your dancing shoes! Oh, and don't worry if you have two left feet, we're no pros either! We are registered at Target and we have created a Honeymoon registry as well. If you would like to check out our Honeymoon registry, just go to www.honeymoonwishes.com and search under either of our names.

If you are planning on flying into Knoxville, the closest place is Mghee Tyson Airport, which is actually in Maryville. Please let us know if you are planning on flying in so we can arrange pick up etc. We are reserving a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn near the Convention Center and World's Fair park. The hotel is very near the Laurel Theater, and the directions are simple, so if you choose to stay here, you should have no trouble finding the location. We have negotiated a rate of $93 per night including parking plus tax. The hotel is located at 525 Henley St and the phone number is 865-522-2800. Just mention that you are booking a room with the Shannon-Murphy Wedding. If downtown Knoxville is not your style, there are plenty of hotels in the Cedar Bluff area, and Gatlinburg.

We are so excited that you will all be sharing this special day with us. We want everyone to spend a relaxing weekend in Knoxville enjoying themselves. Since you won't be spending the entire weekend at our wedding, we would be happy to let you know some fun things to do in K-town! There are lots of great restaurants near downtown including Riverside Tavern and Calhoun's on the River, or the Melting Pot in the Old City. If you are looking for something more casual, there are numerous restaurants and delis on the strip (Cumberland Ave) near the UT campus. The Knoxville Zoo is lots of fun if you have kids, and there is outlet shopping and a great aquarium, if you are willing to drive 45 min. or so to Pigeon Forge. Sorry, no football game that weekend, the game is in Memphis!
