About Melissa

Melissa is an elementary school teacher and loves working with children.  This explains a lot about why she loves Mike so much and how she can be so patient with him.    

About Mike

Mike is a Safety Manager for Jacobs Technology but often fantasizes, and sometimes believes, that he is a professional hockey player playing for the Philadelphia Flyers.  In his off time, he enjoys coaching high school hockey at this alma mater, Monsignor Bonner High School.  

How we met...

Mike and Melissa met at a Halloween Party in 2006 and at that time were both dating other people.  Mike was Maverick from Top Gun and Melissa was... a bumble bee.   Over the next six years, the two became really close friends, shared many laughs and knew the best and worst about each other - but Melissa never let Mike out of the "friend zone" until summer 2012.

How we got engaged

Memorial Day Weekend in Sea Isle City has been a special time of year and place for Melissa, Mike and their friends and family for a couple years now.  So Mike wanted to make 2013 a year to remember.

Mike took Melissa to a nice dinner at La Fontana to celebrate their one year anniversary of officially being a couple.  They then decided to head back home and walk on the beach to enjoy the sun setting.  Every time Melissa would try to put her arm around Mike's waist he would push her arm away for fear of her feeling the ring's box!

After walking a few blocks, Mike could see his "spot" and (unbeknownst to Melissa) his sisters hiding in the dunes taking pictures.  Mike stopped walking, grabbed both of Melissa's hands to hug and kiss her and then said some really nice things, of which Melissa does not remember, and then dropped to his one knee. After popping the question and taking Melissa by complete surprise, she finally said "yes". 

As if that wasn't surprise enough, when the newly engaged couple got back to the Mascitelli beach house... Melissa's mom opened the door!  She had been hiding in the house the whole time even when Melissa was there!  Mike had planned to have her family, his family, and lots of their closest friends at the house to get the party started!!! 

Mike did a great job keeping such a big secret, especially when it involved so many special people!

The Ceremony:

The ceremony will take place at the Kings Mills Chapel and will start at 4:30 p.m. lasting approximately 30 minutes.

The Reception:

The reception will also take place at the Kings Mills and will be in The Paradise Grand Banquet Room.

• Cocktail hour will begin at 5:00 p.m. in a separate location


• Doors to the reception (Paradise Room) will open at 6:00 p.m.


• Reception will tentatively end at 10:00 p.m. (with the option to extend to 11:00 p.m. if we are having just too much fun to stop!) 

We would like to thank all of our dearest family and friends for simply being here for us. You all have done so much and have made such a remarkable difference in our lives.
